Brilliant courses to follow along with at home. Launching the the week beginning 6th April, we will aim to offer a range of fun art activities and craft 'events' each week.
Ever wondered what your artwork would look like in a gallery? Or what it might be like to be a curator? Well wonder no more, in the Imaginary Exhibition workshop we will be using the power of our imaginations (and our drawing, painting and collaging skills) to envisage our very own exhibition. We'll be drawing the interior of a gallery and what goes on the walls (and on the plinths). It could be your own art (it's your imaginary gallery after all) or perhaps you might want to exhibit the work of some of the greatest names in art history. What kind of gallery is your show going to be in? Is this your retrospective at a prestigious art museum or is it more of a pop-up thing? You could draw a fire extinguisher and some light fittings for added authenticity, or perhaps some visitors admiring what's on display.
Over 3 sessions, Beatrice will introduce you to the work of the painter, Alex Katz. You will learn how to draw and paint a portrait in the same style, with a finished painted portrait at the end of the 3 sessions. Alex Katz is an exciting figurative painter, still working in his 90s! His bold style is great to learn from. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to learn online with Beatrice, who will take you through the process of gridding your image, preliminary drawing in charcoal and then acrylic painting!
(You will be sent a materials list on joining the class but you will need A2 or A3 cartridge paper and willow charcoal for next week)
Do you love cross-section drawings? Have you ever wanted to make one but weren't sure how? In this workshop, we'll show you how to make your very own cross-section drawing. We'll be making cross-section drawings of our own homes and will also have a look at some other artists who have used this art form to help inspire you with your picture. It's sounds too difficult you say? Fear not! Use our handy templates so you can do the fun bit: filling in all of that fascinating detail. Who's got the messiest bedroom? Where does your pet like to curl up? Where is the tv remote? All will be revealed.
More soon! Plus images for these courses on an email to follow... (sometimes it’s helpful to picture what you’ll be doing!).
