Gustav Klimt was an Austrian Symbolist painter who is famous for the use of gold leaf in his paintings. We think learning about him and replicating this style is fitting for a golden, shiny Christmas painting class.
Students will learn how to apply special metallic paints and incorporate them within their paintings. Contemporary artist and teacher Beatrice Boyle will also teach key observational drawing techniques.
Klimt’s most prominent work is ‘The Kiss’ painted with a rich tapestry of twinkling gold, silver and jewelled colours. Students in this class will also learn about this remarkable painter who lived in poverty most of his life but found huge fame and founded the Vienna Art Nouveau movement to promote unconventional young artists. We welcome unconventional (and conventional!) artists to all our classes!
This class is part Art History, part fine art and full fun. All materials are provided.
